'THE ALCHEMIST'
'The Alchemist', a thought-provoking and profoundly moving novel, written by Paulo Coelho will change the way you look at life.
One day, Santiago, a young shepherd from Spain is sitting on a bench in the city centre when a mysterious man sits beside him and tells him to immediately go to Egypt to find his treasure. After selling all of his sheep, he boards on a ship and that's how Santiago embarks on a journey he will never forget. A journey full of challenges that will completely alter his life.
As someone who loves truly original books, I find 'The Alchemist' very inspiring and lively. What I really like about it is Santiago's character which represents courage, honesty and kindness. Also, the tone of the book is upbeat, which makes it hard for you to put it down. It's very well written and Coelho's style is refreshingly different, but also quite witty.
I would recommend this novel to older audience as it's a bit deeper and it's not so easy to understand the message it sends. 'The Alchemist' really encouraged me to think about life from a different perspective and to question myself a lot more. For me, the main point Coelho wanted to emphasise is that happiness is within us and that we should always listen to our hearts no matter what.
