Reasons why young people commit crimes
Essay
Nowadays, more and more young adults commit some kind of crime and there are numerous reasons why they do it. This essay will focus on two of them - the absence of control by parents and the lack of opportunities in life.
First of all, let's look at the lack of control. Parents are focused on work and they don't spend enough quality time with their children, teaching them what's good and what's bad, and by doing that preventing them of commiting crime. Furthermore, without firm discipline, some children are likely to get into trouble because parents don't set boundaries for them. As parents don't do their job, the media, apart from their friends, can have a great impact on them as it's one of the main resources they use.
When it comes to the lack of opportunities, it's not a surprise that young people who feel they have no chance of a good life turn into crime as a way of rebellion. Moreover, people who are born in poverty have greater chances of committing illegal or immoral actions. Take for example people in ghettos. Also, for some people stealing and pickpocketing is the easiest and the fastest way of getting some money.
Taking all the arguments into account, I strongly believe that parents are the ones to blame because everything comes from home and nobody else has such a massive influence on children than they do.
