Cambridge English First Practice Tests 2015 by Nick Kenny, Lucrecia Luque-Mortimer: Test 8, Writing Part 1
Task: In your English class you have been talking about how much admiration television, sports and other celebrities deserve. Now your English teacher has asked you to write an essay.
Write an essay using all the notes and giving reasons for your point of view.
Do celebrities deserve the admiration they receive?
Write about:
Many celebrities have a really bad influence on young people. These are mostly people on the reality TV shows who don't do anything worth admiring, and are famous for their appearance and scandalous behaviour. Unfortunately, many teenagers think they are cool. On the other hand, many people are admired for their sports ability or extraordinary talents, and are shining examples for young adults.
When it comes to money, most of them are paid way too much than they deserve and that's because they attract a large audience. However, some of them use their fame to draw attention to important problems in the world or raise money for people in need.
Finally, there are so many 'ordinary' people who aren't famous, but make a difference in the world. These deserve recognition and admiration far more than many of the stars who are in the media today.
To conclude, I personally believe that there are still many people who make positive changes and should be considered as role models to young generations.
