Most people think that it is more important to invest in the future rather than to protect the past. However, most countries spend large sums of money protecting their inheritance.
The first point I'd like to make is that every historic site is unique and special, and in some way describes how people lived in ancient times. Secondly, heritage sites belong to all the people of the world regardless of the territory they live on and that's why it is of a great significance to maintain our cultural background.
On the other hand, the majority of people believe that we should allocate more money to education and healthcare. Furthermore, many countries need to put more monetary resources into IT sector.
Another argument against investing in the future is that we are destroying the environment by building luxurious hotels to cater for tourists.
There are strong arguments both in favour of and against spending money to preserve our heritage. When it comes to me personally, I believe that it's essential we keep the most famous sites for future generations. After all, if we don't know where we've come from, how can we know where we're going?
