Cambridge English First Practice Tests 2015 by Nick Kenny, Lucrecia Luque-Mortimer: Test 4, Writing Part 1

Task: In your English class you have been talking about the importance of friendship. Now your English teacher has asked you to write an essay. Write an essay in 140-190 words in an appropriate style using all the notes and give reasons for your point of view.

What are the most important things we need to do to make and keep friends?
  1. keep in touch regularly
  2. always tell a friend the truth
  3. (your own idea)

Essay

Nowadays, it's hard to find true friends. However, there are several important things we need to do to make new friends and keep the ones we have.

First of all, the most important thing is to be in contact with your friends frequently. There are so many different social media sites such as Facebook, Whatsapp or Viber which you can use to interact when your can't meet up face-to-face.

Another thing is being honest with your friends. It's very important to always tell them the real truth, whether they like it or not. In today's world it's so unusual to find people who are truly straightforward and brutally honest with you and your friends will definitely appreciate that.

Last, but not least, being positive is not only important for a friendship, but for life in general. No one wants to be around people who always see the negative in everything.

To sum up, I personally believe that true friendship is so rare, but so important and it's primarily up to us to be the friend we want to have in your life!
