Essay

Thanks to low cost flights and the variety of destinations, more and more people can enjoy the numerous benefits of travelling abroad. In this essay I will focus on two such advantages.

First, let's look at it from the aspect of education. When we travel, we get to see so many sites of importance and learn about the history of the country. Moreover, we get to know how the locals live, their culture and tradition. For example, we are able to try their national food, listen to their music and see famous museums and galleries. Also, travelling is a great method of practicing our English or other languages, and for me the best way of education.

Another advantage of travelling is the many experiences the traveller has. First and foremost, there is no substitute for the feeling of actually being in a place and having the opportunity to absorb the atmosphere. When travelling alone, we are no longer in our comfort zone and may find ourselves in unexpected predicaments which challenge us. Furthermore, we become more independent as we have to find our way round. Another great thing is that not only do we meet people from different walks of life, but we are able to really get to know the place by talking with the locals and hearing their points of view.

In my view, travelling is all about the whole experience and the people we meet on our way that enrich our lives. As St Augustine once said, 'The world is a book and those who do not travel read only one page'.
