Cambridge English Advanced Practice Tests 2014: Test 2, Writing Part 2 - Report

Task: As part of an exchange programme, you recently spent a week staying in another country with someone who had previously stayed with you as part of the same exchange programme. You have been asked to write a report on your experience. Your report should include where you went and who you stayed with, and what you did during your visit. It should also include a comparison between your visit and the person's previous stay with you, as well as any points you wish to make about the exchange programme in general.

Report on being a part of an exchange programme abroad

Introduction
The aim of this report is to:
  1. outline my experience abroad
  2. make a comparison with a previous visit
  3. say whether I would recommend this programme to others
Background of my story
I went to China through AIESEC organisation and stayed in a small city on the East China Sea. My programme lasted a week, but I was only working three days and used four extra days to travel with my roommate Anisha.

Duties and travelling
When it comes to my duties, I was teaching children from kindergarden English and presenting my country at numerous events throughout the week of my stay. Also, my duties involved being a part of 'Global Village' event where I got a chance to meet people from different walks of life and talk to them about various topics. Apart from work, I was able to visit Shanghai and Beijing and learn so much about Chinese culture and history.

Last year vs. this year
My friend Anisha and I agreed that this year was obviously better. The accommodation was excellent as we were in a flat in the city centre. Moreover, food was provided which wasn't the case last time and we got to know each other better, so it was more fun this year.

Recommendations
In short, I feel confident in recommending this exchange programme to other people interested, as it was a life changing experience. Not only did I improve my English, but I made some new lifelong friends.
