Cambridge English Advanced Practice Tests 2015: Test 3, Writing Part 2 - Letter

Task: You have received a letter from an Englsh friend:
I'm thinking about coming to live in your town for a while and learn you language! What kind of accommodation would I be able to get? And you know how keen I am on sport - any chance of learning a new one while I'm there? The problem is, I'll need to get a part-time job to pay for it all - is that going to be easy?

Let me know - it would be great if I could do it all!
          Joe

Hi Joe!

Great to hear from you and congrats on passing your exams. I'm thrilled you're coming to Belgrade and that we'll spend some time together!

Well, you'll find accommodation easily as there are plenty options. You can find a place on Airbnb - there are some cheap modern flats and you can look for ones in the city centre. Another option is a hotel. They are usually expensive, but the positive thing is that you won't have to cook. If these don't suit you, I can put you up as my sisters have moved out, so I have two extra beds.

I know how much you love watching tennis, but have never had the chance to play it. The good news is that in our country tennis is a very popular sport because of Novak ฤokovic and there are lots of tennis centers in the city. For me, the best one is on 25. May. They have great coaches, you get a racket and a free drink, plus the scenery is breathtaking!

As you know, finding a job is not an easy task. But, I think you'll have more than enough to pay all of your expenses if you work in a local cafe or in a restaurant.

I think that's all for now. Do write soon and let me know what you decide.

All the best,

Anฤ‘ela
